Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Spanish language at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1992. Amanda then went on to graduate in 1997, from the Advanced Fuller School of Massage Therapy in Virginia Beach, Va, where she completed her certification and licensure requirements to practice Therapeutic Massage. She served in Americorps VISTA and the U.S. Peace Corps for 3 years prior to beginning her full time work as a Licensed Massage Therapist in Washington D.C. area and New York City. She is a member of American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).

From Virginia Beach to Washington D.C, and more recently New York City. Amanda has worked in a variety of clinical settings as a licensed massage therapist including Chiropractic, Osteopathic, and Physical Therapy offices. This has provided her with invaluable exposure to a wide range of pain and soft tissue issues. Over the past 5 years, Amanda has pursued specialized training with John F. Barnes, Authentic Myofascial Release technique (MFR), Orthodpedic massage for the ankle and foot, Prenatal and post-partum massage certification and Total Motion Release training with PT, Tom Delanzo-Baker. 

The core of Amanda’s practice is the quality time devoted to each patient regarding their preferences, needs, and health issues for that day to ensure a highly individualized treatment.  She believes true healing has to come from within each person’s actual desire and unique style of recovery. 

Amanda’s long time practice of Yoga has helped her gain valuable insight and understanding about alignment issues and the corresponding patterns of soft tissue restriction. Her childhood training as a Gymnast further focus her therapeutic work regarding iimportance of body dynamics, flexibility, and strength. In her personal time, Amanda pursues the sun, time at the ocean, trekking the Amazon, speaking Portuguese, and general non-stop learning!
